“Are you as excited about me as I am?”
This is a song title from Jeff Daniels. Now you might be asking, “What does this have to do with sales?”
The sad part of this is most people sell this way. Their sales pitch sounds like a resume. They constantly tell you about their success. Worse yet, they focus on the features/benefits of their product/service. They spin it and explain why you too should experience their awesomeness.
Eventually, they may even accidentally ask a question before politely interrupting you to remind you that they can answer the question they asked better than you can. They are the interviewer who is simply waiting for you to stop talking so they can ask their next question.
They are the people who give a bad name to us all - forgetting that we have two ears and one mouth for a reason.
Simply put: Don’t sell that way.
